The Holiday Fair at Nathan Phillips Square is back!
The admission is free and you have a chance to enjoy the holiday magic from Dec 7th to Dec 23rd. You can check out the hours on the website here. In the day time, you can walk around Nathan Phillips and the atmosphere will be very natural, quiet, serene, and classy. There are trees lined up around the edges of the skating rink, leaves decorating the vendor tents, brightly coloured rainbow trees, and of course, the majestic 15m tall Christmas tree centrepiece. The people are friendly and the market offers so much uniqueness and variety, so you can shop for gifts for every single person on your list (including yourself)! And the white tents make the fair seem so classy. It really adds a modern, minimalistic touch to this old-time market tradition.
In the evenings, the market has a completely different vibe. It’s more crowded and the winter air is so bitter cold that you’ll find yourself retreating into your infinity scarf for the entire night, but the night time is glorious! The colours are bright, defined and not drab, and there are lights shining from every angle and direction. It’s crazy how the mood changes so significantly when the sun goes down. I visited the market in the day and night and took the exact same photos at each time – take a look below. Enjoy!
